Rooftop

Randomly I was asked to go to a Cub's rooftop party for one of coworker's brother's batchlor party. I thought it would be a good experience since I have never been on a rooftop and have only been to one Cubs game. Now I think that it's the only way to watch a game. We got free food, free beer, free T-shirt, and a great view. Despite all these perks we had trouble finding some girls to accompany the group for the afternoon. What should have been a very easy sale ended up taking well over a half an hour and only accomplished on the walk to the bleachers. The game itself was boring as sin. It ended 1-0 with a homerun in the top of the 9th after the Cubs pitcher went 8 innings with a no-hitter (except there was a couple of questionable error rulings). The only excitement was a bench-clearing "brawl" that featured some lame punches, a manager wiggling on his back like a turtle, and a hitting coach getting ejected. If I am ever a baseball manager, I think that I will teach my team to fight just in case it comes up. If you are going to get ejected at least knock someone out and have that played on Sportscenter and not a lame duck punch.

Let Them Eat Red Meat

On a Thursday, Friday, and Saturday of this week I consumed a quite large amount of red meat. Thursday I ate a ribeye at Pete Millers. On Friday I ate a giant hamburger from Poag Mahones, and on Saturday I ate a giant slab of meat at Tango Sur. And on Sunday I started to feel quite bad. Red meat is tasty but I don't think that people are suppose to eat six pounds of it in three days.

Washing My iPod

I did it once again. It seems I enjoy washing iPods as much as listening to music on them. Even this iPod was ingraved with the words 'Dave, please don't put me in the washer.' But its cry was ignored once again. In total I have gone through three mp3 players in two and a half years. At least I realize this trends and do my best to defend against it by only purchasing the cheapest iPod available. Plus this way I get to stay on the cutting edge of cheap mp3 players.

Conclusions

Going into our big rugby match everyone was pumped. These are the kind of games that you wait all season to play. Although we all played our hardest, a few miscues and a couple of questionable calls doomed our game. I walked off the field with a swollen thumb, a strained pack, and a huge cramp in my stomach. I had all intentions to celebrate our season after the game with my family and friends, but about half was into dinner my stomach hurt so much that I could even sit up straight. We decided that it would be best to stay in and watch some TV. After I started to feel a little better I decided to go to bed. After laying there for about half of an hour, I felt like a brick was crushing my stomach from the inside. I got up and headed into the bathtub Laying in the bathtub I decide it is better to be safe then sorry and I told my parents that I needed to go to the hospital. From the waiting room we could hear my dad snoring from across the hall. Then a baby started crying right next to him and he slept right through it. After enduring an hour of snoring, I finally was moved to a room where I got an IV, blood tests, and X-rays over the course of four hours. Around three in the morning, my doctor came back with my blood test results. She told me that they looked good for the most part but that my liver enzymes looked high and my liver was probably swollen. She then started asking questions about my alcohol use (See Memorial Day 2007 for alcohol use history). Then after a lecture about how I drink to much by my mom, we headed out of the hospital at about 4 in the morning.

Rent Flow

As I was writing my rent check for the month of June, for the first time I felt like I wasn't just throwing my money away. For I knew I would be collecting rent for the first time. Now I only have 359 months until I own my property free and clear. I think in the long run I am going to be happy I bought an investment property since it gives me the financial stability of owning with the flexibility of renting. And it gives me a feeling of financial freedom since I am starting to make money outside my job.
